Salvation Army Bell Ringing This year we again rang the Salvation Army bell at three locations in town, December 9th & 10th, and December 16th & 17th, as well as on December 23rd. Locations were Wal-Mart, Sullivan's Grocery and Petro. Our total revenue for Salvation Army this year amounted to $3,871.59. That compares to $3,705 last year. We were joined by a number of people and groups this year to bring our total hours up to 78, compared to 60 hours total last year. Hourly breakdown is as follows... Kiwanis members: 60 hours; Rochelle Township High School Key Club: 8 hours; RTHS Midnight Voices: 5 hours; Families: 5 hours. We are indebted to all who helped make this a successful year, give them thanks for their generous support, and wish them well in the coming year. Thanks to program chair and president-elect Larry Wing for this update.
1st Annual Kiwanis Golden K Playday Our first annual Kiwanis Golden K Playday was held Monday, September 19th at the Rochelle Country Club. The club realized over $1200 in profit from the one day event; all of which is returned to the community in service projects or donations to other worthwhile service organizations. Next year's playday is scheduled for Monday, June 11, 2012.
