2nd Annual Homeless Campout

On Friday, September 11th, the Rochelle Township High School Key Club held their 2nd annual homeless campout. The project is intended to provide foodstuffs and monies for the homeless and needy in our area.

The campout was held in the field behind the school, adjacent to staff parking. 31 attendies built their own homeless "shelters" from various and sundry cardboard boxes. being quite creative in their design. The students and their advisor, Danae White, her husband and others, spent from 11 p.m. Friday to 6:00 a.m. Saturday camping out. The club raised $120 in cash which, along with some sleeping bags, was donated to Hand-In-Hand of Rochelle, and a quantity of canned goods that were donated to the Rochelle Food Pantry.
